Weather: Partly Cloudy
Winds: Calm to 8mph Gusts
Dynam Grand Cruiser: It’s been a while since I’ve flown this one, in fact I had to bind it to my DX9 as it was last flown on my DX8. Using some GensAce 3S 2200mah batteries, I got three flights today. I flew on low rates and had to trim the elevator a little bit. I also added some expo to the elevator which smoothed out my pitch controls nicely. My timer was set to 4 minutes, and the batteries came down perfect for storage.
E-flite UMX B-17: My BabbelBatt 1S 550mah batteries arrived, so I put a couple of flights on the B-17 using those batteries. Just fantastic, the extra weight in the nose really keeps her level in gusts where previously she’d pitch up. Lots of low and slow flight, especially when the winds picked up a bit flying into the wind she slows to a crawl, and it looks so great and scale. Flying on mid rates, timer was set to 6 minutes and batteries came down perfect for storage.
E-flite UMX B-25: I put two flights on this one using the recommended 1S 300mah battery. Hand launching her flying on low rates. Getting more comfortable with her flying style. Quite a lot of fun and handles gusts well. Timer was set to 5 minutes, and batteries came down perfect for storage.
HobbyZone Champ: It has been a real long time since I’ve flown this one! This is my “super” champ. It’s upgraded to AS3X, has ailerons and a 2S brushless setup with reinforced wings and tail. She zips along great! I ran two E-flite 2S 200mah batteries and one Nanotech 2S 300mah. I flew on low rates, which includes a hefty aileron to rudder mix, setting my timer to 5 minutes, the two E-flites came down a bit low (3.7 per cell) and the Nanotech came down good for storage. This plane is a lot of fun setup the way she is. I was able to practice rolls and loops fairly low, and even some inverted flight. Lands like a feather with power off.
